In Pandora, Jake comes across a race of 10-foot tall blue humanoids called the Navi, who have been enslaved by the human corporation that is mining the planet for unobtanium. The Navi are led by a god-like creature named Eywa that resembles an Indigenous Australian female. Jake comes to sympathize with the Navi and Eywa, and he ultimately joins the Navi in their uprising against the humans. The film will be a visual treat for you as you will get to see various planets in 3D. The film is directed by James Cameron who has also written its screenplay along with his writing partner, whose name is Rick Jaffa. The director of photography of the film is Mauro Fiore, while its music is scored by James Horner. The movie was shot in New Zealand, where many scenes were filmed at Fox Studios in Sydney, Australia. The film was a blockbuster and it made a collection of US $2.7 billion from the box office, which is the highest collection for any movie. The movie was made with a budget of US $230 million, which is the most expensive movie ever made at that time. Avatar received many awards after its release and it was nominated for nine Academy Awards, including Best Picture and Best Director, but it won only three awards out of nine nominations. The first award that it received was Academy Award for Best Art Direction, while both awards for cinematography and visual effects went to the film’s main competitor in those categories: Star Trek and The Hurt Locker respectively. Another award that the film received was the award for Best Sound Editing for its hybrid digital/analog film soundtrack. Amongst its other awards, it also received awards for Best Original Score and Best Sound Mixing. The film won three awards at the 79th Golden Globe Awards including Best Motion Picture – Drama, Best Director and Best Actor in a Leading Role for Sam Worthington.
